Hi, my name is Rick and this is my Blog. When I was eleven years old I got my first camera. It was a funky 35mm Canon but it had Bell&Howell/Canon stamped across the front. My grandfather gave it to my dad and my dad passed it on to me. I thought it was pretty un-cool at the time [I always wanted a Nikon F, something or other] but it worked great and I used it all the way through shooting for my high school yearbook and all four years of college. Unfortunately I have lost track of that great camera and I'm not happy about it.

Since then I have been either taking pictures, drawing, painting, designing, building . . . I have worked as a draftsman, graphic designer, art director, creative director and photographer. I have been an employee, a manager (yuk), a freelancer, and a business owner.

I always prefer shooting using natural light and shooting just before the sun comes up and just after it goes down provides the warmest, most flattering light you can find. I wish I could package it, put it in a special "Natural Light Box" and pull it out when I need it. We can dream can't we. Until that day comes I struggle through trying to "GET" that natural light feeling using artificial means. You gotta do what you gotta do.

I am happiest when I'm photographing people and I believe in the simplicity of composition and the old cliche', "Less is More". I think the strength of an image is directly related to its ability to make you pause. You don't have to know why, that's not the point. And, I think everyone should visit the Grand Canyon at least once in their life, just to put things in perspective.

Well, that's pretty much it. I hope you find my blog interesting and informative. If you like my work please give me a call or fire off an email. Looking forward to hearing from you.
